Admissions Consulting

Background

Public middle and high school admissions in NYC has traditionally been described as more complicated and stressful than applying to college! And now, with changes to the system affecting the number of spots available in sought after schools, it has been made even more confusing. I can help! I have been advocating for parents and children in public school education for the last 13 years, when my now 12th grader began kindergarten at P.S. 87 on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. I am an expert on navigating the complex New York City public middle and high school admissions process.

Session Options

I offer two kinds of admissions consulting:

*Individual session where I will:

• Map out the timeline for the admissions season, and advise on when and how to prepare for school-specific tests;
• Help you create a list of schools that would be appropriate for your child, based on a series of questions / priorities;
• Answer questions about the intricacies of the DOE admissions process, including how Round 1 and Waitlists work. I will also discuss certain pitfalls to avoid when going through the admissions process.

*Series of sessions where I can assist you in navigating the admissions process from start to finish. This may include working with students on interview skills or admissions essays, where appropriate.
